They’re thread rolled after heat treat, which makes them significantly better than ordinary studs that are machined first. You will note that ARP offers special “undercut” studs. This procedure equalizes the “stretch” of both studs for a more consistent clamping force that com- pensates for gasket compression. The studs are nominally rated at 200,000 PSI. NOTE: Studs are preferred for competition use. Make sure there is ample clearance (engine accessories preventing lifting heads off studs) for street. High-Performance “Wave-Loc” Bolts ARP’s Patented Wave-Loc bolts feature symmetrically forged “waves” to contact the bolt hole and provide extra support. This has proven to be far superior to conventional “knurled” bolts, which have built-in stress risers. Made from 200,000 psi chrome moly. Pro Series “Wave-Loc” Bolts For the most severe applications, ARP’s “professional” series Wave-Loc ™ bolts are the answer.
